Jeannine
Marx Fruci
Because drawing had always been a major part of my life, I entered the University of Washington as an art major. After being told that the chances of making a living as an artist were slim, I changed my focus to business. But my passion for art never left me. After marrying Dave, in 1984, and the births of our two beautiful daughters, I returned to my art. I delved into the uncertain, often painstaking world of watercolor as a way of learning to let go of being in control. Watercolorists know exactly what I mean as the paint very often has a mind of its own. After 15 years of studying watercolor, most of which were spent under the brilliant tutelage of Alice Checki, mixing paint and technique now flow naturally for me. I am passionate about each of the paintings presented here. For some I was fascinated by the subject. For others it was the demands of the technique required to blend the colors and how the painting would ultimately reflect the light. My sincere hope is that I might inspire other artists to follow their passion, discover their own artistic medium, develop their skills and share their gift. |
